Iā€™m passionate about helping you grow as a student.

Meet Ginger

I have been privileged to be a biology teacher and department director for 36 years. During that time, I have taught and/or tutored Biology I CP and Honors, AP Biology, IB Biology SL and HL, IB Environmental Systems and Society, Anatomy and Physiology, Environmental Science and Science Research. If you are having any difficulty with data analysis such as t-tests or Chi-Square Analysis or the use of spreadsheets (Google Sheets or Excel) to create tables and graphs, please contact me. I love guiding students through the planning, implementation and analysis of experimental design, especially for IB students working on their Internal Assessments.

I have strong content knowledge, but I have also gained much experience over the years working with students of all levels to achieve success. I have experience working with talented and gifted students and have a certificate endorsement to teach these students. In addition, I have also worked with students with wide ranging learning disabilities and have co-taught with a support lab teacher. I love working one on one with students in a tutoring environment where it is easier to determine what particular needs a student may have and to design strategies to help them be more successful.

I was honored as a Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching in 2002. I've also been recognized as a Tandy Technology Scholar, Outstanding Biology Teacher of the Year, Sigma Xi Research Teacher of the Year, Junior Academy of Sciences Sponsor of the Year and Teacher of the Year at my school and an honor roll teacher in my district. I am a graduate of Clemson University with a BS in Biology and the University of South Carolina with an M.Ed. in Secondary Science.

Science can be intimidating sometimes, but more often because of how it's being taught. I love finding ways to help students learn and often employ analogies that help students relate this new science learning to something they already understand. If you want to gain more understanding about the natural world and how that relates to you as a student, please contact me.
